Connect ’08 is an opportunity for Papanui High School students & staff to explore aspects of the new NZ curriculum in an integrated approach. The focus will be on learning through authentic activities, while working in mixed groups of students & staff. The curriculum focus will be across learning areas, focusing on specific achievement objectives that are relevant to the chosen topics. It is hoped that the learning will be real & meaningful because students & staff will be interested in the context/topic and they will be able to experience first hand how the curriculum links to their topic/activity. It is also hoped that you (the students) will have considerable input into your Connect topic which will provide you with greater ownership of your learning.
A key focus during ‘Connect’ will be on the Values & Key Competencies of the new Curriculum, as these will become a major focus for our learning from 2010.
