| | Attendance
Every day counts towards your child's learning.
Regular attendance at school makes a big difference because it gives young people the best chance to learn. If your child is away because they are sick, attending a tangi or funeral or has a medical appointment, the school needs to know when they will be away and why they will be absent. If they are going to be away from school for five or more school days, you might want to discuss getting some work from their teachers. If you and your child have to go away unexpectedly, your child might need to catch up on work they miss, you or your child can discuss this with their teachers.

Reporting Attendance
Where possible we would ask that you notify the school before the absence occurs, or before 9am on the day of the absence.
You can notify the school of any absences by:
- Phone: Phone 352 6119 xtn 818 (If leaving a message please remember to state your child's name and form class).
- Text: To text in an absence text the word papanui followed by your message to 3255. Please remember to include your child's name in the message.
- e-mail: wtk@papanui.school.nz (please put attendance as the subject heading)
- Notification form: You can complete the notification form below.
If the school has not previously been notified an absence note is required the day the student returns to school. This note should be signed by a parent or caregiver and it should clearly state the dates and nature of the absence. Alternatively you can complete the on-line absence notification form below.

| 2 | LatenessThis year we have a zero tolerance on lateness. Students are expected to be in their form room by 8.45 on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and they are expected to be in class on a Thursday by 9.30. A warning bell sounds 5 minutes prior to these times as a warning to students. If students are late to school or they miss form time altogether then they will receive a late detention. This detention will take place in P4 at lunchtime on the day they were late. If students fail to attend this detention then they will receive a Principals Detention which takes place after school on a Friday for an hour. |
